What type are you?
Apparently I am Archer Hairline – “…straight forward appearance, but one that has tiny outbreaks of elegance and tiny dots of emotion, only apparent on closer inspection.”
Quite gutted I was some way off from being a Baskerville, but neverless really enjoyed this piece of late season greetings from Pentagram.
Head over for to the ‘what type are you’ website where you’ll be greeted by your psychiatrist. Enter your details and the generic password ‘character’ then find out just what type you really are.
New Photoshop tool
Nice invention for fellow designers when using Photoshop. Mine is in the post…
Kasabian Football Hero
To promote the new Kasabian track called Underdog, Sony Music and Umbro got together create a ‘football hero’ game which fuses both the Guitar Hero style gaming system with football. It’s an interesting mix, but I’m not really sure what the point of it really is.
Maybe I’m missing something, or maybe it was just for the fun of it, it’s an interesting watch, just think this idea seems very generic. Perhaps take away a few of the productions, give it a just a very very slight homemade feel to it, and maybe just take Kasabian out of the whole picture…?
Lost Valentinos AR music vid
Wow, loving this augmented reality music promotion from Lost Valentinos.
As you can see from the vid, the idea is that you print out the indivdual band members icons and use with your webcam to bring to life their latest track.
This is one of the better uses of AR for promotional content. It shows a really rich level of interactivity, encouraging you to be creative and have fun with the band members on multiple levels.
Have a go yourself at their site here.
All credit goes to the great SoSticky for this awesome find.
best virals of 2009 (so far)
According to the Business Pundit here is a list of the best 8 virals of 2009 so far.
It’s a pretty good list which includes the likes of the Microsoft sponsered ‘MegaWoosh Waterslide’ which was inspired by the real Fun Homemade Waterslide video, and the bizarre Acrobutt, which was made to show just how lightweight the MSI laptops really are – in that you can throw them about, and catch them with your buttcheeks…
With it being only mid-October, that’s another 2 and a half months of pre-Christmas viral goodness to come. Good times.
The top 8 counts down like this:
1. The Baastuds – 9.5million views
2. MegaWoosh Waterslide – 3.6million views
3. The Acrobutt – 2.3million views
4. How’d He Make That Phone Disappear? – 1millions views
5. Vanilla Ice Says Sorry – over 885,000 views
6. What Kids Don’t See – 800,000 views
7. Mattress Dominoes – 700,000 views
8. Bruce Lee Plays Table Tennis – over 600,000 views
DJ Hero
Nice video for DJ Hero, the latest in the series brought to the mainstream by the original Guitar Hero. There’s lots going on in the vid, and the fast pace almost feels like it’s too much for the audio to keep up, but it sets up the tonne, making DJ Hero look like it’s going to be an exciting addition in the Hero franchise.
The seamless animation and visuals where created by London visual effects agency Framestore.
Greenpeace Coal Story
Great little video from Greenpeace with some really amazing illustration and animation production by Ogilvy & Mather. Short, simple and to the point.
Speechbreaker
A really nice take on the classic phone prank viral websites, Lean Mean Fighting Machine have created theSpeechbreaker, a viral site which let’s you create your own party political speech.
Picking either Brown, Cameron or Clegg gives you a series of words to enter which have been cut from various speeches. Click on words such as ‘overnight’, ‘party’, ‘nurses’, and they enter into the speechfield giving you your very party political speech to upload to youtube.
If you take a look at the dialogue available for the Lib Dem’s Nick Clegg, you get soon get an idea who this was funded by…
Check out previously created speeches here.
Axe Day & Night

“To complete this ad send AXE to 2345 after 9pm”
Nice campaign for Axe, using digital & viral advertising. The ad, with missing content, asks the user to text “AXE” after 9pm where they receive the rest of the risqué image to your mobile phone. From agency Lowe Ginkgo to promote the new Axe Day and Night fragrances. One being suitable for general audiences. The other, not.
