Is it my obsession with anything Zombie related, or is the whole genre really taking off as of late?

Eric Powell’s The Goon, is being developed as an animated feature film to be produced by ground-breaking filmmaker David Fincher, Blur Studio, and Mike Richardson at Dark Horse Entertainment.

The Goon movie has not been funded yet (fingers crossed it will be soon) as the team is currently looking for a studio to snatch up the project and finance production. If it’s anything to go by from the above proof of concept footage, it looks set to being absolutely amazing.

There’s been quite abit of love for London going around amongst the artist community, and with the current sunny spell we’re all enjoying in this awesome city, why not.

Banksy is now going to be showing his ‘Exit Through the Gift Shop’ film in a specially set-up make shift theatre – the Lambeth Palace. The theatre will also hold some of his other work which also featured at the recent Banksy Vs Bristol Museum event. Of course though, it’s sold out. Sorry way too slow this time.

Banksy artwork/graffiti has been popping up across Utah ahead of the Sundance Film Festival at which he is due to premiere his documentary film ‘Exit through the Gift Shop‘ where it will be shown as the Spotlight Suprise. Should be interesting.

“I’m here – A love story in an Absolut world”, a 30 minute short film in which see’s more cutesy Spike Jonze direction, this time for Absolut.

It’s been described as a ‘robot love story’, or perhaps better called, a rob-rom… It also premiered at the Sundance.

It nice to see a company giving creative freedom and funding towards the arts with a no strings attached (or maybe I mean in this case bottles of Vodka) attitude, as Jonze explains “They didn’t give me any requirements to make a movie that had anything to do with vodka. They just wanted me to make something that was important to me, and let my imagination take me wherever I wanted. And it wasn’t like working with some huge corporation where I had to meet with committees of people. It was just a small group, and it seemed like creativity and making something that affected them emotionally was the only thing that really mattered to them. I got to make my first love story. It’s about the relationship between two robots living in Los Angeles.”

8 HD Toshiba cameras, 1 World record. Toshiba and Grey London have taken a chair into space to film the world’s highest commercial.

From an impressive 98,000 feet above ground, the HD camera’s managed to get some really impressive shots of the surreal lonely chair floating in space to the backdrop of Earth’s curvature. An unusal image which will likely create great intrigue and interest for the advert.

The ad finishes off with some wonderful copy too “armchair viewing, redefined”, then bang, the chair explodes under the atmospheric pressure.

Great to see clients with the balls to go through and do ads like these. A round of applaue to you Toshiba.

Nice video for DJ Hero, the latest in the series brought to the mainstream by the original Guitar Hero. There’s lots going on in the vid, and the fast pace almost feels like it’s too much for the audio to keep up, but it sets up the tonne, making DJ Hero look like it’s going to be an exciting addition in the Hero franchise.

The seamless animation and visuals where created by London visual effects agency Framestore.

Congratulations to Shynola for picking up this years MVAs Video of the Year award, for their work on Coldplay’s Strawberry Swing single.

The video (click here for the full version) fuses together styles of animation and design made popular by the Blu video’s and the fantastic Jan Von Holleben ‘Dreams of Flying‘ work.

Shynola also managed to pick up awards for Best Animation and Best Rock Video, again for Strawberry Swing.

New ad campaign for Sony created by Fallon, in which we see a small village in Iceland filled with speakers and subjected to different music.
It’s an interesting idea and nice to see an attempt to focus on the sound product rather than a visual interpretation. However, the ad seems to fall into a big brother consensus where people seem totally bewildered and quite unsettled by the experience.

The expression of the sheep at 2:00 just about to freak out says it all…

Nice little featurette for greatly anticipated Where the Wild Things Are movie. Maurice Sendak talks largely about Spike Jonze take on his story and illustrations, whilst giving background info on the difficulties of creating his work. I personally cannot wait for this movie to come out. It looks amazing.
