Tyler Stout has created this rather awesome graphic print for The Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in celebration for the latest Iron Man installation. I love his style of using few colours and simple linear illustration, yet merging lots of strong imagery to help create a vivid and exciting environment to homage the content.

Some really nice graphic work from Alex Varanese, a artist/designer who likes red and confesses to spending nights and weekends trying to repair his time machine.

Love the use of roads and motorways as it almost becomes a more literal visualisation of the arteries which pump the life of our modern world.

“IT TAKES AS LONG AS IT TAKES”

How many times do you wish you could throw that one back at those pesky project managers or an unreasonable client.

This is one of the many gems from Wieden + Kennedy’s Studio blog site – a division of Goodness.
“You are observing a genuine shirt with a statement on it about the impossibility of making an activity take less time than it takes. Hindsight bears this out to such a degree that if a group of people is together looking backwards, it seems silly for anyone to even say it. Classic Anthony Burrill work here with the above music video for ‘Snake’ by Acid Washed. Also created were graphic pieces used on for cover art and online material. The video, produced through record company Recordmakers is like a minimal geometric visualiser to the music, which left me almost hypnotised either through the imagery, or how much I adore Burrill’s work.

Anyone see the BAFTA’s the other night?

I think the nights big winners were the film titles who got to be part of this really nice graphic interpretation by Tavis Coburn, as a set of brochure covers for the awards ceremony.

Much like the event itself, I think the Hurt Locker design stands out the most to me. See more at Coburn’s agency site including ‘An Education’, ‘Precious’ and ‘Up in the Air’.

International Year of Astronomy, and International Year of Awesome Poster design by Simon Page

Simon Page has created some phenomenally stunning graphic posters for the International Year of Astronomy 09 organisation. What actually started out a self promo project, soon led to being spotted and implemented into a mini ad campaign for the IYA which soon gained online success similar to a viral campaign.

The striking the images of course take a massive retro influence from 60s and 70s posters, and the minimalistic style when combined with the geometric shapes really boost a sense of science amongst the vast vacuum and power of space.

I will definitely be picking up at least one of these prints, but so far it’s too tough to choose a favourite…
