I feel like I’m going to need a new category set up for Augmented Reality soon with the sudden increase of work getting featured on thegraphical.
Here’s the new Burger King banners by Crispin Porter and Bogusky which feature the AR as a new tool to interact with the banner. Take any note (doesn’t have to be a dollar) and hold it up to a webcam where you can see all the offers available for $1 in AR. There’s a nice Easter Egg once you flipped your note 3 times…
Ok, so it’s not the most functional piece of AR out there, but it’s a fun new way to engage with users, and engaging with the audience has got to be one of the top priorities when it comes to online banner advertising. Only criticisim would be to offer an alternative ‘don’t have a webcam?’ button, so everyone else would get an experience from it.
With the potential of more banners using Flash 9, hopefully we’ll see some really exciting augmented reality with rich 3D devices being used, the proper stuff of AR.
Exciting times ahead…
Have a proper play at bannerblog here.
