So the Cannes Lions is next week, and let’s face it, there’s of unnoticed talent which got left behind. So that’s why this year there’s the Cannt festival, to thank people who’ve worked on some great projects but didn’t make it to Cannes. It’s also running next week and includes sponsers from Wieden+Kennedy, Dare, Special Moves, Lbi, AMV, Soup and Skive.

And if you’re young enough, you can get involved with the event ‘Cannt Skinny Cubs‘, the Cannt version of the Young Lions, a 48 hour brief for young creatives to show their ideas off.
You can download brief from 7.30pm on the 22nd, and there’s a kick off event at Juno on Shoreditch High Street next Wednesday evening, and the winner will be announced at the Lbi after-party on Friday.

KIT KAT capitalized on their classic ‘Have a break, have a KIT KAT’ slogan with the recent Wimbledon epic becoming the longest lasting match ever.

Lovely lay-out, and a really nice touch of using the worn out tennis ball, I’m most impressed with how quickly the KIT KAT ad agency got this produced, just a day after the game finished.

Yesterday John Isner, finally defeated Frenchman Nicholas Mahut 6-4, 3-6, 6-7, 7-6, and 70-68, after 11 hours and five minutes spread over three days.

I wonder how many KitKat’s it would take to put the calories back on from the match?

I hope no-one on this bus suffers ophidiophobia.

Danish agency Bates Y&R created these bus ads for the Copenhagen Zoo. What I love about this is not just the amazing execution delivered but how great it is to see clients willing to do something so different and creative.

Beginning with the 1973 Hovis classic, this charming animation short takes us through the ages of advertising with references ranging from the classics to the more annoying tv spots (personally love the Surfer ad for Guiness reference near the end).

Cheeky little print campaign for Nikon and the Euro RSCG Singapore which recently picked up a win at the Cresta Awards.
The campaign promotes the Nikon Coolpix S60 Camera, with apparently one of the bests face-recognition-technologies, as seen from the ads…

I’ll try to leave the title of this post as the only stupid pun in this post…

Interesting new campaign coming from the Diesel camp which seems to be splitting the advertising industry in half.

Be Stupid. centres a new look for Diesel with a classic manifesto aiming to get people to be, well, just stupid. In their 2 minute typographic ad they which they suggest that smart is stuffy and boring, so to get creative, exciting and brave you need to be stupid. I’m not sure if that’s quite true strictly speaking. It also seems they are now targeting their £75+ jeans towards a more young, student demographic…

The campaign by Anonamly see’s the design being fully integrated into social, digital, and print. There’s a nice energetic spirit to it all, and I really like the graphic and photographic treatment given, but it seems the message is somewhat lost among itself, somewhat incoherent, perhaps a little …hmm.

Nothing beats the start to the week than a good old fashioned piece of advertising controversy.

The video (supposedly promoting the Audi A5 environmental credentials) shows a man driving into an empty car park lot and attempt to commit sucide by carbon monoxide poisoning. Although the ad is very professionally shot, Audi have denied being involved with the making of, and are calling it a fake. The next shot shows the fuel gauge hit empty and the man sitting, appearing to be dead. However, the twist is his suicide failed, waking up with the message “Clean diesel technology, good for the environment, good for you”.

The controversy of it’s authenticity denial has also been accompanied by it’s removal from YouTube.

These poster ads for the Yellow Pages in Dubai caught my eye recently. Lowe Mena have used a really interesting style; the use of minimalistic graphics, letting the brand colours and more importantly the object really jump out from the page.

A fine example of billbord advertising thinking outside the poster. Saatch & Saatchi created these billboards for Panasonic built around actual electric wires and poles to a rather amusing effect recently in urban Indonesia.

McCann Erickson has created a beautiful poster ad campaign for Leeds Counselling.

The production consisted combining the photography of the peoples heads with the specifically written copy into the software programe processing.

Some stunning results came out of this and the posters will now be appearing throughout doctors surgeries, clinics and other appropiate locations around Leeds highlighting awareness for mental health.
