Stumbled upon this great site, perfect to start the week with. Bubol is a wacky little flash site where you create yourself a bizarre looking monster and send him into battle against other users online. Alternatively you can just squash bugs which roam across the screen. There is a beautiful naive illustrative style setting the tonne of a fun, playful site which when you hit the ‘WTF’ button, gives the perfect reason why this site was created. Really looking forward to finding sites with similar ethos.

Created by Polish studio Hipopotam, which after further investigation has it’s own equally post-worthy website. A must visit for any creative. I’m currently enjoying their edits and snippits of pop culture interwoven with what looks like a baby hippo. Check out their t-shirt section too…

A fine example of billbord advertising thinking outside the poster. Saatch & Saatchi created these billboards for Panasonic built around actual electric wires and poles to a rather amusing effect recently in urban Indonesia.

International Year of Astronomy, and International Year of Awesome Poster design by Simon Page

Simon Page has created some phenomenally stunning graphic posters for the International Year of Astronomy 09 organisation. What actually started out a self promo project, soon led to being spotted and implemented into a mini ad campaign for the IYA which soon gained online success similar to a viral campaign.

The striking the images of course take a massive retro influence from 60s and 70s posters, and the minimalistic style when combined with the geometric shapes really boost a sense of science amongst the vast vacuum and power of space.

I will definitely be picking up at least one of these prints, but so far it’s too tough to choose a favourite…

McCann Erickson has created a beautiful poster ad campaign for Leeds Counselling.

The production consisted combining the photography of the peoples heads with the specifically written copy into the software programe processing.

Some stunning results came out of this and the posters will now be appearing throughout doctors surgeries, clinics and other appropiate locations around Leeds highlighting awareness for mental health.

Self taught Art Director Christian Borstlap has created some wonderful illustrations for Dutch children’s charity, Kinderpostzegels.

Paul Postma did the animation to Christian’s colourful work, bringing it to life with a playful animation style really letting their personalities shine, as seen below.

8 HD Toshiba cameras, 1 World record. Toshiba and Grey London have taken a chair into space to film the world’s highest commercial.

From an impressive 98,000 feet above ground, the HD camera’s managed to get some really impressive shots of the surreal lonely chair floating in space to the backdrop of Earth’s curvature. An unusal image which will likely create great intrigue and interest for the advert.

The ad finishes off with some wonderful copy too “armchair viewing, redefined”, then bang, the chair explodes under the atmospheric pressure.

Great to see clients with the balls to go through and do ads like these. A round of applaue to you Toshiba.

Mercedes-Benz is has a new print ad campaign introducing ‘Splitvieuw’, a navigation and entertainment in one screen, allowing you to navigate your way home and watch a movie at the same time.

JVM created these using classic movie ending typography. To me it’s less about the new technology being promoted, and more about how the ads seem to suggest that by driving a Mercedes on the way home you will be given the experience of romantic storytelling and entertainment associated with those classic family movies of the 40′s.
Almost like the journey will be your very own movie.

Teamgeist, a graphic novel game is a new online experience for Adidas created by North Kingdom.

The experience begins with some top quality video and design production, boosted with a slightly more stern version of the M&S voiceover lady. You then play a turn based version of 3 football games featured from the key World Cups Germany won. The game is a little repetitive, but the soundtrack to go with really gets you into the spirit of things.

As much as I enjoyed this, my only issue is how many England footy fans are going to want to play as Germany… Let’s just hope we get some quality promotions like this for England in the World Cup.
